In the province of Petorca, communities today approach the landscape from a mythical perspective, since soil degradation has led to the extinction of ecosystems. No one has witnessed the actual return of water to the now-dry river, which nonetheless remains a collective memory for those born, arrived, and remaining in the territory. Artist Camil Navarro invokes Limca, the spirit of water, to begin a sound ritual that brings perception to the region’s various water sources — faintly audible amid the silence and the eroded soil, through sounds that transgress, expand and subvert the human voice.

Camil Navarro (CL) is a Chilean theatre and performance artist currently based in Paris, France. His artistic practice explores the notion of the critical body, positioning the performer’s physicality as a site for aesthetic inquiry, political resistance, and the expression of difference. His work seeks to place singular bodily morphologies and ever-evolving identity processes at the service of artistic creation. Through artistic residencies, mentorships, and long-term support programmes, he develops laboratories for embodied and sonic research in collaboration with other artists, as well as with human and more-than-human communities.
He has been an artist-in-residence at the Cité internationale des arts (Paris), Radialsystem (Berlin), Salt Galata (Istanbul), Centro NAVE (Chile), and the Spanish Cultural Centre (Chile). His work has been presented in Chile, France, Germany, and Turkey. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Theatre and Performance in Paris.
