28 and 29 March 2026
Central Elétrica, Porto
Free entry
CURTO-CIRCUITO | Youth Cycle returns to Central Elétrica on March 28 and 29, 2026, for its 5th edition, with a program that brings together performances, workshops, installations, music, and books dedicated to younger audiences! Admission is free and designed for children and families.
The program kicks off on Saturday, March 28, at 3:00 pm with Dama Pé de Mim, by Ana Madureira and Vahan Kerovpyan. A minimalist, fun, and provocative musical story in which Dama Pé de Mim mounts her Horse and sets off in search of a friend, crossing the walls of a castle and guiding us through the subtleties of friendship.
At 4:30 pm, we present a dance performance by Marta Cerqueira that reflects on the body as a form of communication and a way of understanding the world. Inspired by the word SubLinhar (which gives the piece its title), the work questions what happens when we are left without words, giving space to a body full of bones, tendons, and muscles that speaks, draws, and moves through space.
The first day ends with a concert by Cremalheira do Apocalipse. With drums, keyboards, guitars, barrels, and buckets, they take the stage with their acidic and prophetic sound.
The second day begins at 3:00 pmwith a second session of Dama Pé de Mim, followed by the exhibition-performance by Fogo Lento. With departures scheduled at 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 5:00 pm, the journey to planet Astra 8 is collective and guided by two eccentric scientists who will reveal the secrets of this extraordinary planet.
Closing this 5th edition is the performance-lecture All You Need Is Plankton. Based on research focused on whales and their crucial role in capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere, Vera Mantero shares her work to raise awareness about inner and collective ecology, environmental crimes, and the role of the rights of nature.
Throughout the weekend, several participatory activities will take place simultaneously. Mariana Sardon leads the Electronic Cassette Workshop, aimed at anyone who wants to travel through time and space using loops of sounds recorded on magnetic tape, exploring the sonic side of everyday objects, DIY electronic instruments, toys, and even the human voice, using cassette recorders.
Ser Silvestre proposes reflections on the Revolution through expression in words, shapes, colors, and tools. Using printing techniques on the silhouette of a carnation, participants are invited to create a visual composition that evokes the symbolism of this flower.
Colectivo Febre sets up the Enfermaria dos Brinquedos, an open repair workshop where participants can bring their broken toys and learn basic restoration techniques.
Throughout the event, the children’s bookstore Salta-Folhinhas will be present.
Admission is free and designed for children and families.
Central Elétrica is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. However, the outdoor flooring is cobblestone and includes some sloped ramps.
Free parking is available.
