André Braga & Cláudia Figueiredo
Using the works of Gaston Bachelard and Louise Bourgeois as the starting points, we reached a set of key words that guide us: abandoned houses, suspended in time, reoccupied by nature. Houses that opened themselves to the sky, houses that gained roots. Shelters, refuges, cocoons, wombs. Women-house-mother. Spinsters and weavers. Spiders, sheep, silk worms. Threads and balls of threads. Reels and looms. Work songs. Lullabies. Swings inside immense dreams. Dreams of sea and salt. Dreams with bird nests.
A staged concert, a video projection and several installations are the ways we chose to approach this thematic. The intersection of various artistic languages – physical theatre, dance, plastic arts, music, video – is therefore on the basis of this image theatre close to poetry.
With a deambulatory part, Casa-Abrigo weaves strong relations with the space where it is housed. Each place will make of it a unique happening. The continuous recreation is, therefore, one of the features of the performance.
