CRL – Central Elétrica invites individual artists from the performing arts to submit creative projects for an artistic residency period at its residency space in Porto, Portugal. The residency includes a public work-in-progress presentation integrated into the programme of VOLTS 26 – International Meeting of Performing Arts (September 8–11, 2026).
We are seeking projects that reflect on issues of Ecophilosophy, not merely with the aim of illustrating environmental problems, but of activating new forms of sensitivity through an aesthetics of care and listening. We are interested in artistic practices that do not simply speak about nature, but with it — creations built in dialogue with life, acknowledging its complexity and fragility. More than a thematic discourse, we seek transformative practices that reposition artistic creation as an ethical, relational and regenerative field, where art and ecology become inseparable.
The artistic residencies will take place from August 24 to September 7, 2026. Selected artists must be nationals or residents of member countries of the Iberescena Programme, excluding Portugal — Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. This open call does not include Portuguese artists.
Priority will be given to projects that incorporate a gender perspective in the development of the process and that promote actions aimed at combating stereotypes.
Those responsible for the selected projects must fully comply with the guidelines established in this Open Call and ensure acknowledgment of the support in all project communication materials, including the mandatory use of the CRL – Central Elétrica and Iberescena logos.
Applications may be submitted in Portuguese or Spanish until March 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Portugal time), through the designated form, duly completed and sent to residencias@circolando.com, with the subject line “IBERESCENA APPLICATION.”
Results will be announced by April 13, 2026, via email, as well as on the organization’s website and social media channels. Any questions should be sent to the same email address, with the subject line “IBERESCENA QUESTIONS.”
