In 2025, Circolando – Central Elétrica will once again present Watts – a programming cycle deeply connected to performativity and sound-based languages. Supported by DGArtes and Culture Moves Europe, Watts 2025 will take place on January 31st and February 1st at CRL – Central Elétrica, offering a lineup filled with sound performances, shows, and live acts under the theme of celebration.
On January 31st, the festival starts at 9:30 PM with Hanna Tarasiewicz, who premieres ABSTRACT, a film that explores the rhythm and tension of emotions, accompanied by a sculpture interpreting the movement and atmosphere of the film. At 10:30 PM, Gil Mac and Henrik Ferrara delves into the history of electronic music and its intersection with performing arts and cinema, invoking dance as a ritual of healing and transcendence. The Journey to Pleasure Drone II seeks an ancestral connection, a portal to the spiritual world that fosters collective catharsis. It is both a club and a scenic device immersing the audience, allowing free movement and the creation of an individual sensory experience. The day concludes at 11:30 PM with 800 Gondomar, bringing to Central Elétrica their mature, incisive, and noisy sound, with the signature energy of this trio from Rio Tinto.
On Saturday, February 1st, at 9:30 PM, Kuba Falk presents Joaninha, a blend of humor, horror, and anti-capitalist critique, rooted in Iberian and Slavic folklore. The performance will feature live music and a ritual using recycled materials and products from a Polish supermarket chain. At 10:30 PM, André Braga & Cláudia Figueiredo present Noite, a powerful and profound performance reflecting on the metaphysical tension between light and darkness. Themes of limits, challenges, transcendence, excess, and liberation are explored through extreme tension, chaotic wild energy, and immense physicality in both body and sound. The evening concludes with Veludo, taking the stage at midnight to guide us on a fluid journey through bodies and experiences of freedom on the dance floor. Through their mixing desk, Veludo will lead us into a dreamlike universe with subtle and unexpected sounds, using music and the dance floor as spaces of resistance.
The presentations by Hanna Tarasiewicz and Kuba Falk are part of the Residency Program / CRL – Central Elétrica 2025, supported by Culture Moves Europe, showcasing the work developed during their January residency.
Access to the event is free but limited to space capacity with ticket collection 1 hour before each session. No prior reservation is required.
The space has free parking and there will be food and beverages for sale.
