Variations of EL explores the idea of ​​Circolando ‘mentoring’ a new cycle of projects based on Spirit of the Place, the walking-performance we have been developing within in different territories in our city, within the programme Culture in Expansion.
For this project, we created an ephemeral company combining young creators with connections to ESMAE and introduced them to the philosophy, concepts, and base-proposals of Spirit of the Place, challenging them to compose their Variation.

A process that will include all stages of creation, starting with the selection of the territory to be worked and the definition of the route.
In a process shared with the group, we arrived at the territory of action: the Fontinha mount. Granite hill, right in the central area of the city, whose accentuated relief somehow “removed” it from the most common dynamics of urban growth.
Inhabited first by muses and majestic trees, it has undergone a radical transformation with the arrival of the Social Factory. The workers’ movement in Porto knew its first steps and left something of the spirit of the Commune here. “The shame of the city is also scattered here,” as it is written at the entrance of the Leal Neighborhood.

The presentations will take place in situ and will invite the audience to lose itself in its own city.
