André Braga & Cláudia Figueiredo
“The X-rays (discovered in 1895 by Wilhelm Röntgen) carry the metaphysical unease of seeing the inside of material bodies, of being able to watch the inside of living things, of penetrating matter and perceiving things from their innermost, vital core”.
That is the challenge we wish to embrace, somewhat in contrast with our latest productions: to question what’s ethereal and lightweight, the space of the “light echoes”, “interstitial whites”, and the “resonance of what’s visible”. Imaginary geographies well adjusted to what seduces us the most in X-rays: colour, light, time, and the dissolution of material bodies. We set aside sickness and the vertigo of death, and we embark on an expedition.
“To see the Great Void results in losing one’s footing”. The great silence of the body, the source where pure energy generates dance movement. What images, what landscapes can we create to mirror this mysterious place?
We want to continue reflecting on the types of sensitivity and lucidity characteristic of artistic creation. We are interested in venturing into a crude dialogue with philosophy. José Gil and María Zambrano are among the authors we shall visit.
