In 2025, across various locations in São Pedro de Azevedo (Campanhã, Porto), we present a new edition of Fio Condutor – Territory Cycle, a program dedicated to artistic creation in dialogue with the places and neighboring communities of Central. Following the artistic residencies held in May, we’re now opening the creative processes to the public.
On July 26 at 6:00 pm, we meet at Largo de São Pedro for a walk with Chilean artist Paula Aros, who will present –õ-sis, a piece developed during her residency at Central Elétrica. The project merges art and science, exploring the metamorphosis of insects as a metaphor for the transformations of women’s bodies and minds.
At 7:00 pm, at Pavilhão do Vitória, we welcome the Brazilian collective Pavilhão da Magnólia, a national highlight at the Shell Theatre Award – one of Brazil’s most prestigious theatre prizes – with the performance There is a party with no beginning that doesn’t end with the end, a work that celebrates resistance and joy as a form of existence. At dinner time, we’ll serve Brazilian feijoada and a selection of traditional snacks.
The celebration continues at 9:30 PM with the vibrant energy of Batucada Radical, a percussion group that has been using music as a form of political protest and cultural expression on the streets of Porto since 1994.
With Territory Cycle, we aim to map paths in search of an art intertwined with place, encouraging experimentation within artistic projects that feed on the narratives, experiences, and memories—both human and non-human—found in the territory.
Fio Condutor will continue throughout 2025 with new residencies and presentations, deepening its commitment to artistic creation and local engagement.
