Extra Limb is a collective that explores the performative potential of the intersection between voice and movement. Through the body of artistic practices that define us, we invite participants to reflect, interact with, and digest the “Actionalism” manifesto by Raymond Duncan (brother of Isadora Duncan). The sessions will be divided between reflective practices and performative practices. Together we will inhabit performative ecosystems composed of voice and movement, where the boundaries between listening and vocalizing, seeing and moving are blurred and enhanced simultaneously. We will use the manifesto to reflect on artistic practice and artistic practice to reflect on the manifesto.
This workshop is part of the PLANT – Performing Life Akademia Network project, designed by CRL – Central Elétrica (Porto, Portugal), Espai nyamnyam (Mieres, Spain) and Isadora Raymond Duncan Research Center (Athens, Greece), for experimentation and research into contextual artistic practices around ecological thinking and common life.
Price: Free workshop, subject to prior registration.
Location: CRL – Central Elétrica, Rua do Freixo 1071, 4300-219 Porto
Target audience: The workshop is aimed at performers, students and enthusiasts in the performing universe of voice and movement, over 16 years old, and includes an opening of the process on the last day.
