“L’après-midi de deux sportifs” is a research project for the creation of a show in the form of a duet-sequel, which explores two very different psychomotor states, confronting them.
On the one hand, the state inherent in the practice of sports training where effort, sweating, work, transcendence, repetition stand out. On the other hand, the languid universe of the poem “L’après-midi d’un faune” by Stéphen Malarmé, invoking a corporeality without tones, a way of being in ideation and rest, in pure sensorial and sensual fruition.
In 2016, Ricardo Machado created the solo “L’après midi d’un sportif”, throughout the process of creating this solo, and even after its completion, he always came across an image of multiples. Starting from the same premises, what would change / add to this work if it were to become a duet? And in a trio? Or even in a quintet? If you had 10, 20, 50, 100 interpreters? This desire to make the body multiply, leads to the search for the continuation of this work with “L’APRÈS-MIDI DE DEUX SPORTIFS”.
