Spirit of a Place 3.0: Fontaínhas
15, 16 & 17 september 2017
Walking performance
Continuing the line of the previous editions, we move on with the long-term work cycle Espírito do Lugar [Spirit of the Place].
Up for the challenge: walk in search of another city.
In 2017 our territory of action will focus on Fontaínhas, that great belvedere suspended between times. Praça da Alegria, Rua de S. Vitor, Carquejeiras, Passeio das Fontaínhas, these are the new references to look at a steep slope.
Its history is related to all the senses, especially the most archaic ones: the touch, the smell, the palate. The strong sensual charge of the saint and the poet who are here at home is certainly a reflex.
The very communal form of living that finds here its maximum concentration is also made of skin and blood.
Living on a slope is not easy, we have to adapt, and gain its shape. Then it becomes difficult to fit elsewhere.
It was a water spring that offered this place all at once its strength and fragility.
