CRL – Central Elétrica invites individual artists from the performing arts to submit creative project proposals for a two-week artistic residency at its space in Porto, including a public presentation of the work-in-progress as part of either the FIO CONDUTOR cycle (July 2025) or VOLTS – International Performing Arts Gathering (September 2025).
We are interested in art as a practice that seeks to revitalize ways of living and resources, involving functional systems – socially engaged, activist, and community-based interventions. We are looking for projects with a strong focus on ALTERITY and the appreciation of identities, particularly in the context of the colonial history shared by Ibero-American countries. We aim to encourage dialogue, exchange, and experimentation.
The residencies can be carried out in one of the following periods: July 14–26 or August 25–September 6, 2025. Selected artists must be from countries that are members of the Iberescena Program, excluding Portugal: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. This call does not include Portuguese artists or groups.
We received a significant number of submissions, and we apologize for the delay in announcing the results. In recent days, we have been fully dedicated to carefully reading and analyzing each proposal. It has been a great joy to immerse ourselves in the richness, diversity, and aesthetic uniqueness of every application.
We are pleased to announce that the selected projects are by the artists Paula Aros (Chile) and Martha Hincapié Charry (Colombia).
The two selected projects will receive a financial support grant of €1,000, upon submission of invoice/receipt, in addition to coverage of transportation, meals, health insurance, and accommodation in an apartment for up to two people. Priority will be given to artists who incorporate a gender perspective into their project’s theme and aim to promote actions to combat stereotypes.
Those responsible for the selected projects must comply with the conditions outlined in this call and ensure acknowledgment of the support in all project materials, including the logos of CRL – Central Elétrica and Iberescena.
