“Oleaje” is the sleepless whisper of a communist militant imprisoned in 1976 and thrown into the sea days later from a Puma helicopter. Her voice can be heard in Villa Grimaldi, but also in the streets of the city that shape her clandestine presence. An agonizing and loving figure of resistance, an improper specter in the political becoming of our history, Marta Ugarte Román is the name reserved for the tragic and, at the same time, the unveiling of the disappearance mechanism used by the dictatorship on bodies offered in noisy defiance. Where should we go? With whom should we sit and talk? It is she who whispers from a lost place, off the record, watchful of the unfolding political events and the ruins still to come.

Olivier&Thümler began its experimental work in 2019, proposing a convergence of poetry, theater, and politics, based on the question “¿DÓNDE ESTÁN?”.
This question is central to the collective’s work, especially in the development of its namesake project “¿DÓNDE ESTÁN?”, a tragic-political trilogy written by Rodrigo Morales, consisting of three plays that explore a memory of political struggle led by women: “OLEAJE”, dedicated to Marta Ugarte Román, and “DUELO”, in memory of women who suffered political violence while pregnant.
The artistic collective aims to question and decipher the tragic nature of history, to revisit forgotten questions, and to delve into almost imperceptible episodes or political specters that allow for the staging of a contemporary, hostile, and dissident language.
