In 2025, Circolando – Central Elétrica will once again present WATTS – a programming cycle strongly connected to performativity and sound-based languages. With the support of DGArtes, Watts offers a program filled with sound performances, shows, and live acts, all under the theme of celebration.
On January 31st, we begin at 9:30 PM with Hanna Tarasiewicz, who premieres ABSTRACT, a film that explores the rhythm and tension of emotions, complemented by a sculpture interpreting the film’s movement and atmosphere. At 10:30 PM, Gil Mac and Henrik Ferrara delve into the history of electronic music and its intersection with performing arts and cinema, invoking dance as a ritual of healing and transcendence. The Journey to Pleasure Drone seeks an ancestral connection—a portal to the spiritual world that fosters collective catharsis. It’s both a club and a scenic device immersing the audience, allowing free movement and the creation of a personal immersive sensory experience. The day concludes at 11:30 PM with 800 Gondomar, bringing to Central Elétrica their mature, incisive, and noisy sound, infused with the signature energy of this trio from Rio Tinto.
On February 1st, at 9:30 PM, Kuba Falk, a multidisciplinary Polish artist and resident at Central, presents a mix of humor, horror, and anti-capitalist critique, rooted in Iberian and Slavic folklore. The performance will feature live music and a ritual using recycled materials and products from the Biedronka (ladybug in Polish) supermarket chain, part of the Jerónimo Martins group. At 10:30 PM, André Braga & Cláudia Figueiredo revisit Noite, 10 years after its creation. This performance draws from the universe of poet Al Berto to embark on a journey through different dimensions of the night. Themes of limits, challenges, transcendence, excess, and liberation are explored, with extreme tension, wild and chaotic energy, grounded in immense physical and sonic intensity. The celebration is guaranteed with an endless version of the project. WATTS closes with Veludo, who takes the stage at midnight, guiding us on a fluid journey through bodies and experiences of freedom on the dance floor. Through their mixing desk, Veludo leads us into a dreamlike universe with subtle and unexpected sounds, using music and the dance floor as spaces of resistance.
The presentations by Hanna Tarasiewicz and Kuba Falk are part of the Residency Program / CRL – Central Elétrica 2025, supported by Culture Moves Europe, showcasing the work developed during their January residency.
Admission to the event is free, limited to venue capacity, with tickets available one hour before each session. No prior reservation is required.
