CURTO-CIRCUITO | YOUTH CYCLE
13 & 14 April 2024
Central Elétrica, CACE Cultural do Porto
Free Entrance
The 3rd edition of CURTO-CIRCUITO arrives at Central Elétrica on April 13th and 14th with a program for everyone, especially the little ones. We don’t say it’s from 8 to 80, because we start at 4 months! In this 2024 edition, just a few days before the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, we composed a mini-program of shows, concerts and workshops made by well-grown artists such as B-Fachada, Teatro Praga and Frenesim, among others. CURTO-CIRCUITO is an initiative by Circolando – Central Elétrica with the support of DGArtes and the Criatório program, from Porto City Council.
The program starts at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 13th, with the CircoParaKids workshop, by Felipe Contreras, an interactive and fun activity, where we learn how to juggle, balance and mini circus acrobatics.
At 5:00 pm, we present the second show of Teatro Praga’s Shakespeare Trilogy, MacBad. This show covers the story of a bully, whose name, as bad as it is, cannot be said because it is bad luck! The story of Macbeth is retold through computer games played by the public and where everyone loses. Because, as we know, in a story about bad guys, no one gets away with it!
The first day ends at 6:30 pm with B-Fachada é Pra Meninos, a concert with arrangements in a toy-box version and with a topsy-turvy speech, but which calls things by name and inverts dominant values.
The second day of the festival begins with a sound exploration workshop led by Artur Carvalho between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
At 4:00 pm, we return to the Teatro Praga and Shakespeare’s Trilogy with Romeo & Juliet. Romeo & Juliet mixes technological tools with a cheesecake recipe, curiously called Romeo and Juliet!, made with the public’s help and tasted at the end by each viewer. A Romeo cream cheese spread over Montague and Capulet biscuits, in turn, joined by the sweet and sugary Juliet.
At 4:30 pm, and thinking especially about the little ones, we present Casca Miolo, from the Porto group Frenesim, a show workshop for babies and children aged 4 months to 5 years. Designed as an immersive experience, music guides the path and travels throughout the body, objects transform into invented instruments, movement and stories transport us to wherever we can imagine and games are the universal language!
At 5:30 pm, the Duques do Precariado close this year’s program, with a concert where Pedro Mendonça and João Fragoso present Antropocenas. Precarious, from the past and with a musty smell, they have little to say and a lot to hide. But sometimes they open up and go out to play live. It’s worth enjoying!
As usual, throughout the cycle we will feature short films from Cinema Insuflável, in a selection of animated films made in partnership with PLAY – Lisbon International Children & Youth Film Festival. New this year is the presence of the Salta-Folhinhas children’s bookstore, which will delight reading lovers.
We have food and drinks for sale on site, made by our delicious friend Ju de Ló.
Attention! Macbad, Romeu & Julieta and Casca Miolo require prior reservation due to limited space capacity. Make your reservations using the form available at the link https://forms.gle/Bex9F64yif1sUtLz8.
