09 and 10 December 2020 | Power Station | Free Entrance
The concept of archive takes on multiple meanings depending on its context. What we came to realize, when we reflect on the notion the body is an archive, the archive is a body, in our Power Station, it is the capacity archives have to offer us ideas and narratives and, at the same time, create a deep friction as to the transience inherent in the performing arts.
20 Volts emerges from the need to wider this debate. A meeting promoted by Circolando that aims at experiencing times, spaces, materials, thoughts and events presenting a set of works from different artistic languages, which dialogue with the following question: can art interrogate the thinking of the archival body?
The event brings together artists from 03 countries (Brazil, England and Portugal), and is divided into 06 cycles: performative conferences, process openings, presentations of performances, visual arts (exhibition and installation), conversations with artists and launch of publications.
And the best part… all activities are free! See you at the Power Station!
Collection of People | Raquel André [PT] | L [18h]
Performance-Conference, 2020, 45´
How to keep someone?
Rio de Janeiro, 2014. I asked a stranger to go to his house and photograph me as if I was part of his intimacy. It was the beginning of Collection of People, a collection of 4 projects: Lovers, Collectors, Artists and Spectators.
All the collections are accumulating. In every city I go, I collect more people. From these one-to-one meetings, I create shows, performances, conferences, books and exhibitions to create my own archive of the ephemeral. On Collection of People – Performance-Conference I present some itens from each of the four collections: how they happen, how I accumulate, how I collect, how I archive, always asking myself about the possibility of keeping the ephemeral, that which cannot be saved.

Feedback | André Braga & Cláudia Figueiredo [PT] | Black Box [19h]
In process, 2020, 45´
Crudity, truth, all stripped down to the essential: the body, the origin of sound, technique, matter. Feedback, sound waves, body waves, shadow, sound and body echo, resonance, hollow, hard, bone, stone, raw, inside and outside, dizziness, birth and death, the here and now, the breath, the dust, the spiral, the organic, the dry, the breathing of the body, the sound, the light, the heart, the pulse, the primitivism, the skin … Many relationships, oppositions, encounters, starting points, arrival and flight.

On the road | Tó Trips & Tiago Gomes [PT] | Auditorium [20h]
Performance, 2016, 60´
ON THE ROAD based on the book of the same name by Jack Kerouac, in the year of the 60th anniversary of its first edition, in 1957, is a consistent performance in soundtrack for the book, performed by Tó Trips, in guitar and various effects, and Tiago Gomes, reading excerpts from the book, with video-beat by Raquel Castro.
It is a journey, a lost and infinite road, where the two performers and the video send the viewer to the “route 66”, in America of all dreams, which here are also all the roads in the world – highways, secondary roads, the desert, cities lost at night and dead ends.

Volts # 0 | Circolando
In celebration of 20 years, Circolando proposes a new line of action: the publication of thematic dossiers, under Volt signature. This first edition reflects on how the speeches create the objects of which they speak and how these speeches end up establishing a strong notion of body power, continuously structured on naturalized invisibilities while inexistence. A look beyond the biographical, guided by developments that invites us to manipulate a body-memory-future.

Irreducible | Rui Paixão [PT] | L [18h]
Performance-Conference, 2020, 45´
In 2020, Rui Paixão invested his time in creating a new show supported by LEME (Ilhavo, PT) and Fira Tàrrega (Tàrrega, ES). Due to the pandemic, and with its premiere postponed until September 2021, he decided to restructure the project and use the research material he has been collecting over the past two years to build a performance conference around the word Clown. This conference is launched with the objective of changing the meaning of the word Clown and with the ambition of projecting its investigation into an open dialogue with the public and the artistic community.

La Bête a.C. d.C. | Wagner Schwartz [BR] | Black Box [20h]
Performance – Created especially for 20 volts, 2020, 45´
From 2005 to 2020, before Coronavirus, I manipulated a plastic replica of the sculptures Bichos (1960), by Lygia Clark, in galleries, theaters and museums. The public was invited to participate. In December 2020, after Coronavirus, a new version of La Bête appears in full union. This time, the audience and I will wear masks. Alcohol gel and gloves will be available. A Covid-19 exam will be done prior to the experiment. We will maintain barrier gestures.
Wagner Schwartz [Conception and performance] + Body Tracked [Production]
Object: plastic replica of the sculpture Bicho, by Lygia Clark
This presentation is part of the project Central Eléctrica – Programa Criatório, Porto City Council.
TALK WITH ARTISTS + BOOK LAUNCH | Auditorium [21h]
Never together but at the same time | Wagner Schwartz
In Never together but at the same time Wagner looks for the answers to these central literary questions today. To the notorious modern world of cell phone applications and the speed of social networks, Wagner opposes fleeting vignettes, poetic snapshots of Adeline’s life, of her readings. Or would they be pictures, as the plasticity of some scenes suggests?
TREMA! Revista | Policy [14], Dissidents [15] and the End [16]
Brazilian publication of art, politics and provocation that looks at theater and its relationship with contemporary themes as basis for research and debate. Its profile focuses on artistic and aesthetic language, especially with a greater link to scenic research, targeting not only its peers in the performing arts, including researchers, artists, teachers, directors, curators, critics, playwrights, etc., but a wider range of people interested in art and a more in-depth, restless worldview. Each editions has a guiding theme and the last three editions will be launched at 20 Volts.
Collection of Spectators | Raquel André [PT] | Sala Branca [17h – 22h]
Exibithion, 2020
Since 2015 Raquel has been collecting spectators who witness the artistic works she has developed in the Collection of People project. In this exhibition, we invite you to travel through the inventories between 2015 and 2020 from spectators collected during the Collections of Lovers, Collectors and Artists.
We share with you each of these items knowing that the ephemerality of an artistic event is kept within those who experienced it. This sharing activates memories and triggering them we invite you to travel through your memories as a spectator of the world, as a spectator of the here and now.

Andor | Atelier Caldeiras [PT] | Caldeiras [17h – 22h]
Installation, 2020
Andor this Andor works as a walking set design, a mechanism that starts from the bodies (of their movement) to live. An apparently functional object, but without definition, enunciating a thematic machine that could either roam the city in the swoops of São João or belong to a composition of Mantegna or Masolino of the 14th century.
João Baptista + Rodrigo Queirós + Ivana Šehić + João Miguel Ramos + Carlota Jardim + Gonçalo Gouveia [Instalação] – Atelier Caldeiras is a multifaceted work space. It remains open to collective artistic work, with ideals of sharing and discussion. It also seeks to bring together, through work sessions or exhibitions, local or non-local, national and international artists, with the aim of stimulating the pleasure of creating and exploring practical knowledge.
