Ayiti, a Montanha que Assombrou o Mundo commemorates the 220th anniversary of the Haitian Revolution, one of the most striking events in the overthrow of colonialism in the Americas, even though it has been constantly hidden and minimized, thus erasing the struggles of these peoples and underestimating their impact. At his residence in Central during November, Marconi Bispo’s project seeks to repair this invisibilization, highlighting the importance of Haitian Voodoo, whose liturgical practices exalt revolutionary heroes. The comparison with Afro-Brazilian religions highlights the importance of ancestry in resistance and the fight for freedom.
Blondi arises from the idea of telling the story of humanity differently. Blondi was Adolf Hitler’s dog, a German shepherd that he euthanized before committing suicide. It’s not just any dog; It’s the Führer’s dog. Führer is a German word that means guide, leader or conductor. Blondi is a multidisciplinary performance whose main tool is movement, where past, present and future converge, with a provocative and queer aesthetic in a social and political scenario marked by significant changes, crises and freedoms of identity, and contexts where political stances in some countries they sometimes remind us of a not so distant past. Blondi brings us a tribute to freedom and beauty that questions who we are in today’s world. Blondi is a performance dog who decides to stop in a frantic world to think that it’s not happening.
